I chose to not automatically send paper copies with the CD because I believe that most of you will be able to take the CD to a local blueprint company - or maybe even a Kinko's - and get full-size copies printed economically enough.
My local blueprint company - who did the full-resolution scans for me - says they can print the same quality from the scans that they can from my paper "originals". I'm assuming that will be true for your local company as well.
If for any reason any of that's not true for you - there is no local printer who can or will, you can't get to them, you can't afford it, etc. - then email me and I'll be happy to get them printed here and mail them to you; my treat.
1. You should be able to take the CD to a local blueprint company and get copies printed. I'd guess $10 to $15.
2. If you're a Newport News shipmate who can't get copies printed locally, you can email me and I'll be glad to mail you printed copies. Free.
3. You can order paper copies from The Floating Drydock. That source is quick, easy, and moderately priced. I think I recall that being about $30 with shipping.
4. I think that the National Archives have the ship's plans (perhaps only on microfilm) and will mail copies for a fee. I haven't contacted them yet but I expect the process to be rather time-consuming and perhaps not inexpensive. The advantage of that source is first-generation copies, not the copies of copies available elsewhere. Time-permitting, I'll look up the links again and post them on my website. I'll also let you know the results if I ever get around to obtaining copies from them.
